Short sellers can have an undue influence on stock prices. One way to keep track of the short seller, especially on stocks you own or would like to own, is by following the short-interest ratio. This number gives you a clue about where some in the market think a stock's price is going. It is not perfect, but it could prove useful when you are in the buying or selling mood.
