Leading Economic Indicator

Definition: A leading indicator is an economic measure that changes before the economy does. Changes in leading indicators may predict the course the economy is to take in the future, although not with great accuracy.
Some of the leading indicators are new unemployment claims, building permits, inventory changes, and money supply.
