By , About.com Guide

Editor’s Note: This is the third is a series of brief reviews of major financial Web sites.

Some people may not be familiar with Reuters, but anyone in journalism for any length of time knows the name as a news service with emphasis on foreign (for Americans) coverage.

The online Reuters still maintains that global perspective on the news, but the Web site also sports a comprehensive financial and investing focus.

Reuters covers the full spectrum of investment products as well as stocks.

Here’s some of its strong points:

  • The Reuters stock screen is one of the best, despite the fact that it is free. The screen is easy to use and modify. It also includes some handy suggested screens that are already set up.
  • The site has one of the most comprehensive company profile sections on the Web. You can find almost any ratio or indicator you want.
  • Another strong point is Reuters offers explanations for many of the ratios and indicators on its site. This is very helpful for new investors and as a refresher for others.

Some of Reuters weak points:

  • The navigation could be easier.
  • Some charts are interactive, while others aren’t. This can be confusing for investors new to the site.

Conclusion

Reuters is a strong financial site with an international flavor. If you like a broader view of news and comprehensive company information, Reuters is worth a visit.
