Stock Market Records Mean Nothing

The media (and, unfortunately, some unwitting investors) become earnestly excited when an important market index hits a new high. This is when investors driven by greed and not common sense decide to jump into the market. Professional traders call this "dumb money" and feast on it when the market changes direction. Share prices of stocks are not that important when seen through the eyes of a long-term investor with a plan.
