Fed Expected to Leave Interest Rates Unchanged

Tuesday June 23, 2009
The Federal Reserve's Open Market Committee will finish a two-day meeting Wednesday and announce key interest rates.

No one expects the Fed to change the key rates from their present historic lows.

However, the stock markets will pay close attention to the announcement for any hint about future actions.

While the economy has pulled back from the cliff it was about to go over, it is still shaky.

The Fed will also be watched closely as its chairman, Ben Bernanke, looks for a larger role in shaping economic policy and policing the financial markets.
