After-hours trading and futures on market indexes give you a clue about where particular indexes will open for trading the next day. You hear this quoted every morning, but you don't have to wait for the newscast, you can see for yourself.
MARKET NEWS: Markets closed generally down to flat Monday. Some profit taking was to be expected after last week's strong run. Investors were hoping for more information on future Fed rate hikes from a speech by new chief Ben Bernanke, but no news hints were offered.
